Why enrol with us?

Enrolling with Tararua Health Group means you’ll pay lower fees and have access to funded healthcare services. It also helps us keep your health information in one place, so we can support you and your whānau over time.

When you’re enrolled, you’re more likely to see the same GP or nurse. That means care feels more consistent, and we can give advice that reflects your full health history.

Enrolment is free and only takes a few minutes. You can enrol online at Barraud Street Health Centre or Pahiatua Medical Centre.

Who can enrol?

To enrol, you need to be eligible for publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand. Most citizens, permanent residents, and some work visa holders qualify. You can check your eligibility on the Health New Zealand website.

You can enrol children under 16 in your care by completing a separate form for each child. If a family member is 16 or older, they’ll need to enrol themselves unless you have Power of Attorney or are their authorised representative.

What are the benefits of practice-based enrolment?

We use a practice-based enrolment model. This means when you enrol, you’re joining the practice as a whole, not just one doctor.

Our GPs, nurses, and clinical team work together to support your care. Your health information is shared safely across the team, so you can still be looked after if your usual GP isn’t available.

This approach means you can:

• Receive more consistent care across the team
• See another clinician when needed
• Benefit from care that reflects your full health history
• Get ongoing support as your health needs change

Where possible, we’ll always try to book you with the same GP or nurse. Practice-based enrolment simply means the wider team can step in when needed, so you’re still supported without delay.

What you’ll need

Before you start, make sure you have the following ready:

• A valid form of ID (passport, birth certificate, or visa)

• Address and contact information

• A few minutes to complete the online form

Proof of your identity can be any one of the accepted documents listed in the eligibility checklist.
